St Peter’s Cathedral is pleased to be open for visiting at the following times*:
Monday 10:30am – 1:00pm
Tuesday – Friday, 10:30am – 3:30pm
* Subject to services, other events and availability of volunteers. If you wish to visit outside opening hours for private prayer, please contact the Cathedral office on 8267 4551.
Free guided tours of the Cathedral are offered every Wednesday at 11:00am.
Bookings by individuals for these tours are not required (more information about Group Tour Bookings below).
The Cathedral is staffed by volunteer welcomers during opening hours, and there are information booklets available at the back of the Cathedral in various languages to allow visitors to take a self guided tour.
The Cathedral Shop is located adjacent to the main entrance. Available for purchase is a range of merchandise including bibles, holding crosses, postcards, candles, recordings of the Cathedral Choir and other souvenirs by which you can remember your visit.

The Cathedral Deli and The Cathedral Hotel are within a minutes (1) walk from St Peter’s Cathedral and both are a perfect place to enjoy meal or refreshments following your visit.
Tours (Individuals & Groups)
Experienced and knowledgeable tour guides conduct informative and educational tours focusing on the history and religious symbolism of the building and discussing the numerous beautiful artworks in the Cathedral.
Free guided tours of the Cathedral are offered every Wednesday at 11.00am. Bookings by individuals for these tours are not required.
We welcome school, church and community groups and are happy to tailor a tour to suit your needs.
Commercial operators wishing to bring tourists through the Cathedral should book a tour (45 minutes) or a visit (10 minutes) through the Cathedral Office. Tours and visits must be booked at least two weeks prior to the planned tour.
- Community Groups: Suggested donation of $6.00 a head paid to the Cathedral Office
- Schools: No charge
- Commercial Tours: $6.00 a head, paid in advance on invoice
- Bus Tour Groups – 10 minute visit, but no formal tour: Suggested gold coin donation
Photography
Visitors are welcome to take photos inside the Cathedral, but sensitivity to the sacred nature of the Cathedral is asked for.
Visitors are not permitted to take photographs of choir rehearsals without specific permission.
Wedding photos for couples not married in the Cathedral can only be taken on the forecourt or steps of the Cathedral. For commercial photography permission must be gained from the Dean. Please contact the Cathedral Office.
